About North of Boston:
The North of Boston Chapter of Hearing Loss Association of America, formerly known as North of Boston SHHH (Self Help for the Hard of Hearing) was formed in 1988 by Helen M. Fleming who was a member of the Boston SHHH Chapter living in Lynn. She was approached by other members who lived in Lynn about starting a Chapter closer to home and North of Boston SHHH was created. The name was changed when SHHH became Hearing Loss Association of America. The Chapter celebrated its 25th Anniversary last October.
Our Chapter goal is to help people with hearing loss cope with their loss and provide the necessary information to help them live independently. We have also established scholarships to help deaf or hard of hearing high school students with their college expenses. These scholarships are funded with the donations we receive from the Walk 4 Hearing.
Although we are a small chapter, our group always welcomes new people to our meetings offering friendship and support.
